First, a big disclaimer I know the author but not the artist I do think I would like this as much without knowing her, though, as it is quite exactly up my alley surreal, funny, and scary I am not a parent so I won t comment on it as an actual children s book, other than to say that I think I would have liked it very much around the time I started finding children s books repetitive and constricted Younger children might find it hard to get, or too scary I m not sure which.I really love the art by necessity the original story was made concise to fit the format, but the art picks up and extends what the prose was originally describing, shaping it in a new way Agent Chick in particular is far better than I could have imagined on my own.

The first picture book I ve read in quite some time to get me to read one, you probably have to be Shaun Tan or Jenna Moran This is a fine tale of Kitten, Puppy, Lamb and Agent Chick vs a terrible invasion of ordinary things. The artwork complements the story beautifully the creepiness it introduces when the ordinary things begin to appear would be camouflaged, without it, by the whimsical prose style Together, they are beautiful and horrifying.

An illustrated picture book about a world gone terribly, terribly wrong The colors and the art style are different from Edward Gorey, but the creepy cute factor is the same It is also comparable to the Blair Witch Project Be wary of the savagery and innocence of your own spaces It does look best on color e readers but is enjoyable on bw , and perhaps one day there will be a slip jacketed hardcover edition One can hope.
