Reviewed by LoriBook provided by the publisher for reviewReview originally posted at Romancing the BookThis book was a change of pace for me as this isn t a BDSM book but a blush romantic book I liked this story and I liked the characters, even the characters who were supposed to be villains Alastair, the male protagonist, was rough around the edges due to not being around people very much and didn t have a lot of social graces He was so sexy though, I think it had a lot to due with him not talking a lot about what happened to him that led to the scars I also think his sex appeal stemmed from the scars themselves I also liked him because he was just a nice guy He was sensitive to Victoria and he was also sensitive about people judging him due to the way he looked as well as his social standing He cared deeply for his sister and treated his servants very well.Victoria, the female protagonist was likable as well She did a few dumb moves that needed to happen to make the story flow, but in spite of her momentary lapse in judgement, she was a sweet young lady who recognized a diamond in the rough in Alastair Victoria was sweet and biddable but in the end she showed her steel edge and gave back what people tried to force on her I really liked how you got to read how both Victoria and Alastair felt towards each other from when they first met right up till the end The reader was in each of their heads and you saw how they each changed their viewpoints towards each other the they got to know each other I really like when you see the characters grow and learn to value themselves as well as the person they are supposed to fall in love with.Victoria s sister, on the other hand, was ghastly and quite unpleasant but as you get to know her you begin to understand where she s coming from and while you may not completely like her, you feel empathy for her I think the worst villains in this book were Victoria s intended, Ellison Montgomery, and his Grandfather They were not nice Even as bits and pieces of information were revealed to give you a snap shot as to why they acted the way they did, you still couldn t like them.Overall, a light enjoyable read that will make you forget what s ailing you and you ll feel like you re really there during all the action.
