Source Publisher Genre Urban Fantasy, Romance Rating 3.0 MY Thoughts The Blood City is the second installment in author Megan Morgan s Siren Song Trilogy The story actually picks up FOUR months after tattoo artist Siren June Coffin escaped from the Institute of Supernatural Research in the Wicked City As a Siren, June, like her twin brother Jason, has the ability to force people to obey their every command Since arriving in Chicago to rescue Jason from the Institute, June has found herself under a microscope since her abilities are quite rare June has found some allies in Sam Haain, Aaron Jenkins, and Micha, who was injected with an experimental drug that has give him paranormal abilities Full Review Gizmos Reviews 07 26 2016 Published November 10th 2015 by Lyrical Press

June, Sam, Muse and Micha have been on the run for what seems like forever June wants to clear her name and Sam wants to clear his Muse is slowly dying and no one can help her If they want to stay alive and have a possibility of clearing their names they must make a deal with a vampire named Occam He can t be trusted and proves that at every opportunity A good read for the second book of the Siren Song series Good mystery and intrigue with a little steam thrown in for good measure Morgan does a great job of keeping you guessing throughout the whole book If you haven t taken the time to read this series, it s well worth your time.

Holy crap Chicago just got a whole lot crazy I was hoping that I d like this book just as much as the first one, but I loved this just as much, if not June and the gang have been in hiding for the last few months, and it isn t sitting well with any of them They want to take action, but with them being in hiding, it makes it hard for them to make any kind of move Soon though things are starting to go too far, and they have no choice but to go to the Vampires to find some way to make an alliance with them These vampires They are NOTHING like what you ve read in other books They are disgusting and apparently do drugs in their spare time I mean, why not, they can t die However after putting June and a few others through a few tests and also giving up Micha as a prize they vampires form some kind of alliance with Sam and his followers However, this story is just beginning June has a few hard decisions she has to make The question is, will she be able to survive the aftermath her decisions cause Not only that, she s caught the eye of a certain vampire and he s determined to make her his Talk about twists and turns This book is full of them You think you know where the story is going but oh no, Megan Morgan totally spins it in another direction I loved every second of it though She keeps you on your toes, and I can t wait to see how she twists the story in the next book I m hoping that June is able to find a HEA, especially with everything she s had to go through, but with Megan, it seems you ll never know for sure story Megan I can t wait to see what you have in store for June ARC was provided through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

While The Bloody City is not a masterpiece of urban fantasy, it is entertaining The novel has than a little romantic angst, and the dialogue is far from spectacular Albeit memorable, I ll pee on you is an interesting threat coming from a woman It is funny, though I have my doubts that it was meant to be It reads a bit like a telenovela dramatic, lots of angst filled sex relationship bits, and very overdrawn bad guys who clearly have the most fun. Most of the novel is spent passing time in one safe house or another, and as expected there is one great way of passing time ie Sex.Morgan s vampires are far from glittery Their lack of hygiene is horrific, and not well explained by their resistance to disease How becoming difficult to kill equates with losing table manners baffles me Regardless, Occam is an entertaining anti hero who really loves to irritate people I wasn t too impressed by June Coffin, in part because I don t equate trash talk with strength Neither does she use her abilities for anything interesting She does come across as smarter than Sam Haiin, who regardless of the number of times he s described as the world s smartest man, comes across as merely arrogant and oblivious albeit skilled at using his shifting abilities to appear a buxom Like one of those movies that are so cheesy they are fun to watch, The Bloody City is a fun way to pass the time, but definitely not worth a second read.3 5The Bloody City is the second Siren s Song novel I received a copy of The Bloody City from the publisher and netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review Crittermom The Bloody City is fun but forgettable

June Coffin was a siren and in hiding Sam Haain is leader of the paranormal alliance and insisted June got a thorough education on paranormals June was sent to talk to the vampires as the alliance needed their help on a mission Sam had rescued June and her brother Jason and Micho from the institute Sam wanted to eventually take down the institute June went through a lot, which made this story It was riveting I liked the story and plot and loved the characters I recommend I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review

If The Wicked City did not make me a believer, The Bloody City surely did I enjoyed this book so much, I can t even explain This book was packed with action, funny in some parts, and sexy as hell I definitely fell in love with June in this book She s dealing with quite a bit, but never loses her spunk and her bravery I loved loved loved that we got to see Sam vulnerable in this book makes you see him in such a different light this time around All in all, its a great read and I can t wait for the next one to come out

  10. says:

Good fast paced paranormal urban fiction and some fresh ideas I didn t know about the first book, so occasionally I was a little lost, but the storytelling was so good I still kept reading.Dark with edgy characters, I will definitely read another in this series.I received a Review Copy by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
