Dangit. stupid internet browser deleted my review shakes fist and glares Sighs Here we go again behave internet, warning youAnyways It s hard to write a review about at this point in the series without giving anything away I m in love with the way Cameron Jace has written and intertwined these characters, giving them histories that make sense in a warped way and dropping them into this world where anything can happen. This one narrating here, has become one of my favorites and it s hard to choose in this universe and I can t wait to see his full length book Some of the pieces fit together here and you can see how this person became who they are and how they were influenced cleverly view spoiler Captain Ahab aka Long John Silver was a nice touch and with a few entries and explanation Moby Dick makes sense hide spoiler

This is not a tale for the faint of heart At under a hundred pages it packs woe and gore than some books four times or it s size The main character, a boy named Jim has a destiny that turns his once ordinary life upside down Going after a treasure turns out to be both a big and nightmarish adventure in this book As his destiny unfolds and various character comes into his life, Jim learns his true name, the secrets behind the island and his heritage But with all that he goes through A part of me thinks it might have been better if he just stayed in the dark Then again how many of us especially a thirteen year old boy, can turn down the call of adventure This story took me less than an hour to read and was worth every second.A masterful tale told in under a hundred pages with hardly a dull moment.

4.5 Beautiful, and smartly written Jace cleverly ties in several well known stories, using well placed clues to join them Having read many of the Diaries already, we expect that there s a reason why certain details come up as they do, and can predict significance in the timing of a well placed fact I love how he provides importance behind every small detail in the fairy tales we already know and love.

Jim Hawkins, a little boy on an island taking care of his widowed mother He dreams of finding treasure and the reason his sailor father had to die Unexpected pirates show up on the island Everyone says Jim is special and his mother tries to protect him from his destiny Ahab Long John Silver has other plans for Jim and wants to use him to find Moby Dick Bit of a surprise ending.

Love this story It is amazing to me that someone can have the imagination and gift for storytelling that Cameron Jace demonstrates He takes seemingly unrelated tales and weaves them together so well that you are drawn right into the story After reading it you wonder how you could not have seen the connections before Keep the prequels and the diaries coming
