Sarah Laughs combines legend with the biblical account of Abraham s wife Sarah She lives a life without laughter until the birth of her son, Isaac I empathized with her continued barrenness up to old age, and the simple language helped me feel it strongly without getting bogged in sentimentality I want it for my home library while my children enjoyed it, it spoke to me as an individual when I checked it out at the library a week after having a miscarriage.

Every time this parsha is read, I think of the wondrous Eldridge Street synagogue in NYC, which has a beautiful blue glass window over its ark The window has chocavim And HaShem said that the children of Abraham s children would be as many as the chocavim stars.

Beautiful story from bible written in approachable form for kids.

  4. says:

Solid retelling of Sarah s story and the birth of Isaac Richly imaginative of Sarah s viewpoint of the story Good for pulling young listeners into one piece of a complicated narrative.
